Lesson 7: Winds

Objective

The objective of this lesson is to understand the basic principles of how winds are derived from satellite observations from a time sequence of images or from features in an image.

Prerequisite

  1. Basic physics - motion as a function of distance traveled over a give time
  2. Ability to interpret 6.7 micron images and identify clouds in visible and ir images
