Lesson 3: Visible Image Interpretation

Objective

1. Know the advantages and disadvantages of visible satellite image
2. Be able to identify basic cloud types in visible images
3. Be able to identify basic storm systems in visible images
4. Demonstrate basic intellectual knowledge necessary to interpret satellite observations.
5. Transfers knowledge and principles of radiative transfer to satellite imagery

Prerequisite

1. Understanding of the RTE applicable to solar spectral region (e.g. identify terms - not derivation).
