01 November 2000 | GOES-8 Visible Channel

Java applet developed by Tom Whittaker, CIMSS / SSEC

This loop of GOES-8 visible imagery shows the extensive layered overcast associated with the upper level deformation zone across northeastern Wyoming, southeastern Montana, and extreme western South Dakota on 01 November 2000. Breaks in the lower-level cloudiness were forming near Rapid City (KRAP) and Custer (KCUT), due to the downsloping effect just to the lee of the Black Hills.
