Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak
This loop of GOES-8 10.7 micrometer IR imagery with hourly surface reports shows the explosive development of supercell convection across Oklahoma on 03 May 1999. The lead (eastern) storm begins to exhibit an "Enhanced-V" signature around 21:32 UTC, just prior to the first reported tornadoes in southwestern OK (at 21:51 UTC).
